Soichiro Honda's Wife Dies at 99

Honda Motor Co. solemnly acknowledges the passing of Mrs. Sachi Honda, the widow of the late Mr. Soichiro Honda, founder of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Mrs. Sachi Honda passed away in her own home at 3:05 p.m. on December 15, 2013, due to natural causes. Born on July 11, 1914, Mrs. Honda was 99 years old. A private funeral service was held by the family.

Mrs. Honda was by her husband's side as Honda was founded and began its development into the company that it is today. Not only was she wife and travelling companion as Mr. Honda sought to expand Honda, she was described in Limitless Dreams, as "the first woman test rider in the early history of Honda Motor Co."

She has also played an important role over the years in helping to document more about Honda's history and founder through her stories and recollections, some of which can be found in the Library of Honda Origins.
