In a country such as Bangladesh, the motorcycle market is an excellent opportunity for success. With a population of about 150 million people that purchased 200,000 motorcycles in 2012, the steady growth of the motorcycle market is guaranteed. To compete in this market, Honda established Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) in December 2012. This is a joint venture with the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation to provide the country with affordable and low-emissions two-wheeled vehicles.
Recently BHL opened two authorized Honda motorcycle dealers. One is located in Tangail, and the other is located in Jamalpur. Six different models went on sale today (27 December 2013), including the locally produced CD80. Another model sold is the Dream Neo imported from India. The dealers will offer many services such as parts sales and maintenance to provide customers a complete experience with their Honda motorcycles.
Other imported models include the CB Shine, CB Trigger, CBR150R, and Activa. The local CD80 began production in October 2013 at a factory with a capacity of 80,000 units per year.
