New Honda City Launches in India

Over the past few days, the new 4th generation Honda City sedan went on sale in the country of India. Launching in 1998, the City has been a success in India and many other Asian countries. The new 4th generation model will most likely continue this trend, as it has received positive reception. The exterior has evolved to be more sophisticated, and the interior is the same one found on the new Fit. I remember Honda saying that a Fit sedan will be introduced in the United States, but that seems quite a ways off. The US receives the new Fit this spring, with the Vezel / Urban following sometime later. A smaller, less expensive sedan would benefit the market, as the current Civic is a growing car, with a base price of almost $20,000.

Big news for India is the Earth Dreams 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine with around 100 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. Combined with a 6-speed manual, this powertrain achieves excellent fuel efficiency. The other engine is a 1.5L i-VTEC mated to a CVT.

There are 159 Honda dealers throughout the country of India, all of which saw success with the Amaze diesel.

Along with many standard safety features, this new City has luxury features such as automatic climate control, touchscreen audio, smart key system, reverse camera, rear air vents, and paddle shifters for the CVT.

There are five trim levels - E, S, SV, V, and VX.

Six colors are offered - Golden Brown Metallic, Carnelian Red Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Taffeta White.
