Honda officially launched the new City in Thailand. This follows the release of the vehicle in India, and it will continue to release in more Asian countries. For this generation, the City has been redesigned to have a more premium appearance, both inside and out. From what I've seen in reviews, the countries where the car sells usually give the car positive comments. Not so much from places like the USA, but perhaps that's why Honda has not yet released any details on a sedan smaller than the Civic.
This specific City is powered by a 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine paired with a CVT. It produces 117 horsepower and 146 newton-meters of torque. Six different models and seven different colors are offered, and it starts at 550,000 Baht ($16,745). Honda expects to sell about 60,000 units per year.
This number is a good estimate as the City has been popular in the country since its debut back in 1996. With cumulative sales over 480,000 and a successful previous year, this new City is sure to do well.
Many safety features are standard. This includes anti-lock brakes, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, an emergency stop signal, six airbags, and a reverse camera. In a place where many cars don't have such features, the new City is sure to have an advantage.
On the inside, Honda's now signature 7-inch touch screen audio system and touch climate controls are present on higher trims. Other features include smart entry with button ignition, paddle shifters, cruise control, and Bluetooth.
