Exterior design changes include new 16-inch alloy wheels, extended LED taillights, chrome tailgate garnish, and a rear diffuser. In comparison to the previous model, the new Fit is slightly shorter, wider, and has a longer wheelbase. Both interior volume and rear legroom have been significantly increased. The Magic Seats and class-leading cargo capacity carry over for this generation.
Standard features include Bluetooth, a reverse camera, and blind spot mirror. Optional features include smart entry with push button start, heated side mirrors, heated leather seats, a moonroof, LaneWatch, and a 7-inch touch screen audio system. Soft materials are used on the dashboard.
The new Fit is powered by a 1.5 liter DOHC i-VTEC Earth Dreams engine delivering 128 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. This means a needed 11 horsepower and 8 lb-ft increase over the previous model, which often lacked power. The two transmissions are a six-speed manual or CVT. Fuel economy is estimated to be 33 city / 41 highway based on the EPA ratings.
Much needed ride comfort improvements have been added to the new Fit.
Using high strength steel, weight has been reduced by 57 pounds (26 kilograms).
As a current owner of a 2013 Fit, I am impressed by what the new Fit offers. Although I'll be happy to keep my Fit for as long as it runs.
