FRAZER-NASH CONFIRMS SPECIFICATION DETAILS AND LAUNCHES IN-MARKET TRIALS FOR ALL-NEW BRITISH DESIGNED, ENGINEERED AND BUILT METROCAB

Frazer-Nash and Ecotive, the companies behind the all-new, purpose-built Range Extended Electric (REE) Metrocab taxi confirm the vehicle’s full specification.

The British designed, engineered and built Metrocab, from Mytchett Surrey-based Ecotive and Frazer-Nash, is a new generation zero-emissions electric-powered taxi for London, and represents the cutting edge of green transport technology with a design both evolutionary and sympathetic to the iconic black cab silhouette.

Metrocab Chairman Sir Charles Masefield said:

“The all-new Range Extended Electric Metrocab has been in development since the mid-2000s with several prototypes built and over a million kilometres of engineering tests completed.  Instantly recognisable as an iconic London Hackney Cab, with a panoramic glass roof for views of the city, our new all-British London cab offers, for no price premium, completely new levels of economy, emissions and passenger comfort and is ready to enter service this year, benefitting the passenger, driver, city and environment alike.”

Ready now, Metrocab launches a campaign this week inviting London taxi drivers to register with the company for real-world trials in the new zero emissions capable taxi, demonstrating significant cost savings, environmental benefits, easy ownership and maintenance and enhanced passenger experience.

The Metrocab from Ecotive and Frazer-Nash is the latest in a long line of electric powered transport solutions they have marketed and developed over the last 25 years with world-class highly efficient, optimised and fully-integrated digital-electric and hybrid-electric powertrains.  Priced competitively to enter the taxi market, the Metrocab is powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery pack with an electric motor to each of the rear wheels.

Following the in-market trials this year, the Metrocab will be rolled out in London and other key cities in the UK and internationally.

MG announces reduced CO2 on Diesel engines and improved fuel consumption.

  • Improvement in CO2 to 129g/km figures for all MG6 GT and Magnette DTi-TECH variants
  • Fuel consumption improved from 53.5 mpg to 57.6 mpg (combined)
  • New figure lowers MG6 car tax to group D (previously E)
  • Attractive option for fleet managers
  • Exceptional levels of standard equipment available on all MG6 specifications
  • Free trim level upgrade available during Q4 for retail sales

MG Motor is pleased to announce an improvement on CO2 figures from 139g/km to just 129g/km for the MG6 GT and Magnette Diesel variants.  All DTi-TECH MG6 vehicles feature advanced stop-start and smart charge technology.

This decrease in emissions drops the BIK band to 20%, resulting in a monthly tax bill of only £56.47 per month for a MG6 DTi-TECH GT S.  The decrease in emissions also lowers the VED band for all MG6 Diesels from group E to a group D.

Despite improved emissions and fuel consumption, there is no change to the performance of the MG6 DTi-TECH, which still delivers a 150PS, 350NM diesel engine linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, a combination that provides a 0-60mph time of 8.9s, excellent in gear acceleration and punchy performance overall.

The decrease in emissions and current Q4 offers will see the MG6 Diesel become an attractive prospect for customers and fleet managers alike, an already exceptional level of spec is now better than ever with free upgrades on all Diesel specifications until 31 December.

Launched in 2012, the MG6 GT DTi-TECH boasts an impressive equipment list whilst retaining an affordable list price, starting at just £16,995. Under the current offers customers automatically upgrade from an S variant to an SE, benefiting from a saving of £1,200 and receiving additional equipment such as satellite navigation, rear parking sensors, cruise control and leather steering wheel. Building on the SE trim, the TSE now offers a saving of £2,000 and features front parking sensors, 18” alloy wheels, rear parking camera, leather trim, Bluetooth, automatic headlights, automatic windscreen wipers and electric heated seats. Magnette customers will be offered the opportunity to upgrade to an MG6 GT SE, saving £3,000.
