Honda Vezel Getting Cosmetic Tweaks for 2015 European Debut

by Mihnea Radu of www.autoevolution.com

After making the new Vezel available on the Japanese market, Honda decided to have the vehicle released on the European automobile market as well. Therefore, the company is preparing an Euro-version of the crossover car which will go on sale in 2015.

This version of the Honda Vezel will still be based on the Jazz/Fit subcompact and according to Yoshiharu Itai, the Vezel’s chief engineer, its name will most likely remain the same based on a global naming strategy. However, a few minor cosmetic tweaks will be made to suit the market, so we could se a new front end on the car. The brand’s goal is to boost sales to 6 million vehicles by March 31, 2017, and compete against cars such as Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur and even Nissan Juke.

On the other hand, the folks from U.S could get their hands on the B-segment SUV earlier. It seems that in America, the car will go on sale in the second half of 2014. Whether they will be getting it as in Japan, meaning with a hybrid variant, is unknown. This last thing also applies to Europe.

Thus, it’s safe to assume that more information, details on engine options, the model’s name and more will surely be made available in the near future.

Honda Vezel (Urban Concept SUV) by Mugen Revealed in a Brochure Leak

With minor changes

A brochure scan has revealed Mugen plans to apply its know-how on the recently introduced Honda Vezel which is essentially a production version of the Urban SUV concept.

It was only last month at Tokyo Motor Show when Honda introduced the Vezel and now it seems Mugen has prepared to spice up the model. The standard version will go on sale on December 20 while the Mugen package will probably be available shortly after when it will bring a lowered ride height.

We also notice the grey accents on the chin spoiler, front radiator slat, roof spoiler, alloys, rear apron, exhaust pipes and side skirts. The model featured in the brochure is the 4WD version equipped with a direct-injection 1.5-liter gasoline engine which can also be had in a hybrid setup with a high-output motor and a SPORT HYBRID i-DCD (Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive).

According to Japanese media there is a three-month waiting list for the Vezel, a model which is being described by Honda as offering the elegance of a coupe, the functionality of a minivan and the qualities of an SUV.

India-bound Honda Urban SUV to be named as CR-U

A couple of days more, we will see the global unveiling of the production version of the Honda Urban SUV concept at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. According to some media reports, the compact SUV will be named as the CR-U. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, but the CR-U name certainly make sense for the Urban SUV. The patent images of the vehicle have already been leaked on the web.
Based on the 2014 Honda Jazz platform, the compact SUV will also make its way to the Indian car market in 2015. The mini SUV source most of its styling cues from the concept showcased earlier this year. The appealing body design will feature curves, low roofline and a broader stance. It will be more than 4-metre in length, but will be smaller than the company's flagship SUV CR-V.

Internationally, the Urban SUV is expected to share its engine spec from the Jazz, and is also likely to get the Civic's 1.6-litre diesel engine. For Indian buyers, the CR-U will share its engine and transmission options with the next generation Honda Jazz. So, it will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a 1.5-litre i-DTEc diesel engine.

The production version of the Mini SUV will be launched in Japan first in 2013, followed by North America, Europe and then India. In our country, it will compete against the likes of Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster, and is expected to be priced around Rs. 9-10 lakh. ($25,000 - $30,000 for Canada).

Leaked! India-bound Honda Urban SUV (production spec) patent drawings emerge

The Honda Urban SUV concept was unveiled in January this year at the Detroit Motor Show. At the time of the unveil, Honda announced that the production version would be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show which commences for the media on the 20th of this month.

Just weeks prior to its formal launch, we find leaked patent drawings of the production spec crossover, posted by Joke For Blog.

Based on these leaks, we find that the production Urban SUV is just the concept with productionised wheels, wing mirrors and headlights. In fact, the headlights of the Urban SUV resemble that of the new CR-V, while the sloping window line reminds us of the previous generation CR-V.

The rear-door handle is located on the window sill and the crease line blends in with the window line neatly. The front fascia of the Urban SUV sports Honda’s new “EXCITING H DESIGN!!!”, and the ‘solid wing face’ that we see on the 2014 Honda Jazz.

Speaking of the Jazz, the Urban SUV is using the same platform as that of the 2014 Jazz, with an overall length in the whereabouts of 4.3 meters. The Urban SUV will be a global model for Honda with sales expected to start in Asia, Europe, South America and North America next year.

India could get the Urban SUV late next year or by early 2015, and we anticipate a diesel engine in addition to a petrol motor. Expect to hear more about the Urban SUV in the coming days.
