The company , which unveiled the car globally, will start selling the model to be available both in petrol and diesel variants in India from January next year.

"The all new fourth generation Honda City, which would be available in both petrol and diesel versions, will take the legacy of the car forward," said Honda Motor Co Managing Officer Yoshiyuki Matsumoto in New  Delhi. Currently, Honda City comes with petrol engine only.

2015 Honda City Spied?

This car was seen testing in Thailand and will not be for the North American market.  Think of a FIT Sedan.

This is the first time we’ve seen this prototype on-test in Thailand. It appears to have the new Honda family front-end, and judging from its size, it appears to be some kind of C-segment sedan. Might we be looking at a Honda Jazz sedan on-test, or perhaps the new 2015 City? Couple of months earlier, we brought you the rendered picture of the upcoming next-gen Honda City, giving our readers an overall idea of how the production version will look like! - See more at: http://bharathautos.com/spy-shots-is-this-the-all-new-2015-honda-city.html#sthash.y72r2azb.dpuf

We are not surprised to hear, even if Honda has commenced the testing of 2015 City in India. As Economic Times recently reported that, all-new 2015 Honda City is all-set to unveil this-month, but the location remains unknown at the moment. This comes as a surprise, as we were expecting the next-gen City to premiere at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, along with the new 2014 Jazz hatchback and Brio-based Mobilio MPV.
This car isn’t to be confused with the Honda Civic, which is a D-segment car, Honda’s term for entry-level cars aimed at increasing market share in emerging markets like India and China. But the 2015 City’s launch in India is expected to happen after that of the new Jazz. The Japanese car manufacturer has other cars on the cards that include the Brio-based MPV and Jazz-based compact SUV. Sadly, all these models will be launched over the period of next 2 years.

In a recent development, it is learnt that the Japanese car maker, Honda is planning to unveil its fourth generation City model in the Indian auto market. Showcasing of the new-generation model is slated for November, 2013. It will bear a fresh new design and shall be equipped with premium features in order to topple Hyundai Verna from its perch.

Also to mention, the new City model will be available in diesel engine option as it was highly needed for the car maker. The company has been riding on the success of its entry level compact sedan, Amaze with over 35000 units being sold till now. With the diesel model of City, Honda is targeting the mid-size segment where it has lost most of the market share to its rivals. Reports have surfaced that the launch of new generation City is a part of Honda's new strategy to gain a considerable market share. It must be noted that Honda is still faring well in the Indian car market as it registered a 69 per cent growth with 59617 units during April to September time period. The upcoming model of Honda is expected to be offered in six to eight variants that would comprise petrol and diesel engine options, along with manual and automatic transmission choices.

Earlier, its was told the new mid-size sedan of Honda would be based on the platform of Jazz and shall have more running creases to make it appealing for price sensitive Indian buyers. On exteriors, the clear wrap around headlights will be provided with projector lamps to give an attractive appearance to the car, along with revamped integrated LED tail lights at rear. According to sources, the City model shall be price significantly higher as compared to the incumbent model in order to bridge the differential between mid-size and executive sedan category. The company would be hoping for a turnaround in the mid-size sedan segment as it has earlier discontinued its Civic model. However, the auto maker has not revealed any information regarding the next-generation City, but it is expected to arrive in global markets before the end of next year.

According to industry experts, once Honda introduces the new model of City, it would take the respective segment by storm as the brand value of the company is immense in the Indian car market. Also, the design philosophy followed by Honda while bringing out new-generation models is quite good. With its petrol model, the City model had ruled the mid-size segment ever since its inception but due to the unavailability of diesel engine, it has bore the brunt. Now with new model of City with diesel engine, the car can become a force to reckon with, as Honda has previously showcased its mettle in the past of overturning things with the recent example being of Amaze.

Rendering – 2015 Honda City looks just as futuristic as the 2014 Jazz

One would assume that after Honda released the images of the 2014 Honda Jazz (2014 Honda Fit), we would have piped down a bit. That is not so. In fact, we are left in even more anticipation for the 2015 Honda City and the 2015 Honda Urban SUV. Both these cars will be based on the new Jazz and are India bound.

This rendering of the next generation City comes from ‘abesselingSVF’. And as you can see, it borrows most of its styling from the new Jazz. If you trace the overall profile from the bonnet to the roof, it seems that aerodynamics plays a significant part in this particular rendering. And even though this rendering borrows its front from a Jazz, the overall proportions of the sedan do not appear to be out of place.

If the interiors of the new Jazz are anything to go by, expect the next gen City to be one of the most spacious sedans in its class. You can also expect a few interior components such as the steering wheel, music system, power window switches and aircon vents to be carried over from the Jazz.

It is highly likely that before we see the next gen City, Honda would announce the Jazz-based compact SUV (which was previewed as the Urban SUV concept at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show), which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan by the end of this year.

2015 Honda City renderings based on Concept C production variant patent leaks

Last year, Honda showed us their Concept C sedan at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. Earlier this year, patent drawings of the same Concept C’s near-ready production variant appeared online. Now, based on these two, here is a render of the 2015 Honda City sedan.

Honda has never said that the Concept C will be the next gen City. So the renderings here, of 2015 City by CarPlace, is work of art and imagination. Digital renderings here show speculative design aspects of the next generation Honda City. Though Honda has said that the Concept C will be seen in some Asian markets, it’s not quite clear whether it will be under the City badge. At the most one could expect that some design aspects of the Concept C will find their way into the new 2015 Honda City.
The new generation model is said to be longer and wider than the current City. It will also sport LED fixtures for its tail lights and projector headlights. Boot space is expected to be close to 500 liters. Engine too will be upgraded, and thanks to the 1.5L iDTEC, which is now available in Amaze, City too will be available in diesel option for car buyers in India.
