Japan – Honda Vezel Mugen Performance Edition revealed

The Mugen-tuned Vezel gets a full body kit, alloy wheels, side skirts, bumper spoilers and rear spoiler.

By Anjan Ravi of www.indianautosblog.com

Honda’s tuning arm, Mugen, have showcased what they can do with the Vezel which was launched in the Japanese market today.

The compact crossover now gets a full body kit with bumper spoilers, aggressively-styled air intakes, side skirts and rear spoiler. The 17-inch wheels are replaced by larger 18-inch ‘motif’ wheels designed by Mugen. There are also seven wheel designs to choose from.

Mugen takes customization very seriously and up until the minute detail. Accessories such as carbon rear view mirror cover (for the inside mirror) and carbon-aluminium spherically-shaped gearlever are examples of that. The tuning house will also offer a high-performance brake fluid and high-pressure radiator cap to go along these.

Speaking of performance, the Vezel can be specced with high-performance Mugen touring brake pads, sports suspension and a titanium exhaust system.

These performance additions do come at quite a cost mind you. The body kit is priced in the Indian equivalent of 2 lakhs, the sports suspension at INR 1.15 lakhs, the exhaust at INR 61,000 and the carbon mirror cover INR 6,800.

The Vezel is launched in Japan with two engine options to choose from – a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, and a 1.5-liter hybrid engine.

The Mugen tuned Vezel is available to pre-order from December 20 in Japan.

Honda Civic Sedan Gets Mugen Treatment

Honda is one of the few brands left out there which knows how to leave soft-touch plastics out of the package and offer fun on a relatively tight budget. Continuing their long collaboration, the automaker and their in-house tuner Mugen have put together a new body kit for the ninth-generation Civic sedan.

Looking like a distinctly Japanese tuning project, the body kit starts off with a two-piece front spoiler, continuing with big side skirts and a rear bumper that protrudes lower to the ground. There's also the obligatory huge rear wing added to the boot lid for extra style and presence.

Mugen has also designed a new grille with their logo on it and offer multi-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels. If you'd like your car to sound like that Type R which you've always dreamed of, Mugen can also sell you a sports exhaust for the 1.8-liter engine.

Carscoops!: Honda Accord Hybrid gets the Mugen Treatment

Note: This is the plug in Hybrid, the North American non-plug in Hybrid will look closer to the normal Accord....

The new Honda Accord Hybrid won't go on sale in the States (and Canada) until October, but it's already available in Japan where the carmaker's official tuning arm Mugen has presented a selection of goods to customize the sedan's appearance and to some extent, improve handling.

For the outside, Mugen prepared a subtle aero-package comprising front and rear aprons that bolt on directly to the bumpers, along with side skirts and carbon-fiber grille trim and boot lid spoiler.

Mugen's other offerings include a stiffer sports suspension that also lowers the car's right height, a new set of 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels in tires size 245/35R19, bolts and oil filler caps with the tuner's logo, and so-called "sport floor mats" – you'll have to ask Honda's partner what makes them "sport"…
