According to a report on 9to5Mac,
the new 2014 Civic will be the first Honda models to feature Apple's
"iOS in the Car". But unlike a few other car companies that offer iOS in
the Car, Honda could add one other highly sought-after feature.
That feature is iOS Mirroring. According to 9to5Mac's report, Honda's version of "iOS in the Car" will be "more than just simple mirroring".
Although there isn't official word from Honda yet, this would make
Honda the first car manufacturer to support iOS mirroring. They are
expected to make an official announcement in the first week of December.
Apple announced "iOS in the Car" earlier this year teasing us with just a
few features and screenshots. There was Bluetooth connectivity, phone
calls, maps, Siri and music streaming. But the details have been
sketchy. Many car manufacturers are on board with Apple on this but
Honda's case could be a little different.
Details about the in-car entertainment package in the 2014 Honda Civic
are far and few between. The car will, however, feature a 7-inch
touchscreen and come in the following trims: Coupe, Si Coupe, Sedan, Si
Sedan, Hybrid, Natural Gas and HF.
Full iOS control from the car's touchscreen, although only a speculation
at this point, could become a reality soon. Or maybe Honda's version of
mirroring would involve an AppRadio Mode-esque feature. Stay tuned for
more on this.
